About us
At Fairway Creek Retrievers, we are committed to breeding exceptional puppies of sound health and kind temperaments. We teach our puppies from day 3 to learn which lays the foundation for easy training. We are a small ethical and reputable breeding kennel where the puppies are born and raised in the family home. Our dogs all live in our house and enjoy their daily life on our property near the Hunter Valley NSW.
Our focus is on breeding puppies who are placed in forever homes. Whether as working dogs, medical or assistance dogs, loyal companions, or much-loved family pets, each puppy is carefully raised and selected for their future owners with their future in mind.
We place a strong emphasis on early training, exposure and development, helping young minds grow, adapt, and learn from the very beginning. By nurturing confidence, curiosity, and engagement at an early age, our puppies develop a natural desire to learn and a willingness to please.
This early foundation allows our dogs to grow into well-mannered, adaptable companions who are comfortable in a variety of environments, as well as highly trainable working dogs for those who require them.
Litter updates
After a year and a half of no Labrador litters, finally Lucy has been mated to the Supreme Champion Driftway Just Genes (Levi). The litter has arrived on the 4th Ocotber! This litter will be going to families who have been on our waitlist for at least 12 months and have been very patient. Many will be going to working roles.
New babies joining us for our breeding program - Golden Retrievers - Evie, Juni and Freya, Labrador - Lilly
From our most recent Golden Retriever litters we choose to keep a couple of promising females to join our breeding program. We have retired a couple of our Goldens this year, so are excited to see these young girls progress. These recent litters displayed beautiful, calm temperaments and resilience, reflecting the exceptional temperament, conformation, and health of our Fairway Creek lines.
From our Labrador litter, we will keep one girl to remain in our program. We added 3 Tapua Labrador puppies earlier this year.
The requirement for Assistance dogs is increasing, and it continues hard to keep up with demand. Sarah Lufe dog behavior modification trainer will be joining our Fairway Creek Breeding program with her Labradors and Golden Retrievers so that each litter is given the time and attention to maintain our standard of exposure and training. Sarah will also be doing ongoing puppy fundamentals with any puppies from Fairway Creek if their families would like, and continues to train young dogs for Public Access Testing.
Assistance, Therapy and working dogs as well as pet families
We continue to prioritise the need for Assistance and working dogs for our puppy placement. However acknowledge that many families want great dogs who have been well socialised and exposed as puppies. They research and would love to have a puppy join their home who has had a great start in life. We have an extensive waitlist, but open it from time to time if you are prepared to wait the approximate 12 months for a Fairway Creek Puppy.
Our Puppies in Working Roles
We are very proud that puppies from our most recent Sif litters have gone on to therapy and support roles. 2 have started their journey to train as Assistance Dogs. More than half are training to be working within psychology and medical environments, as well as providing valued companionship within their families. We look forward to receiving updates on their progress and celebrating their achievements in these important roles.
We have puppies from previous litters who have become medical companions, as well as one of our dogs who has RTAG (Retrieving and Agility) title - NRA.
We also have a number of dogs and their families enjoying scent detection work, building connection, confidence, and strong working partnerships together.
We have our puppies supporting war veterans and making an incredible impact on their lives. Many of our puppies have joined families with neurodivergent family members and children with autism. Each puppy has worked alongside local trainers and has had the positive impact on the family that was hoped for and intended. (We are happy to provide training referals.). See our testimonials.
We are incredibly proud of all our Fairway Creek puppies and know that the presence in their forever homes changes lives.
